While undercover, Rick discovers a restaurant that is doing everything wrong, from food preparation to management, and training. Rick is forced to shut down the store. He continues his journey fearing the entire Checkers & Rally’s system may be broken. He finds out that he does have some great management in place, but he is still failing to respect his employees in other ways. Crewmembers and managers feel like they are not being paid a fair wage and their ideas for improvements are ignored. Rick learned at an early age that respect is paramount, and his journey teaches him to focus less on growth and sales, and more on respecting his employees by providing them with proper training, incentives, and the tools to do their jobs.

Jess acted as the father figure that Rick always wanted. With Jess’s recent passing, Rick feels the responsibility to carry on the amazing work that Jess left behind. The pressure is on Rick to lead Kendall-Jackson in the same bright future that Jess envisioned.

It’s been a challenge to prove to critics that she’s in the position she is in due to her hard work, and not because she is the “boss’s daughter.” Staying grounded in her faith helps make a difference in the things Dina does day-to-day. While undercover, Dina hopes to go out in the field and see what foundations her father set forth to create a successful company so that she can share the same vision as he had when he started the business.

By the end of his journey, Stephen will come to realize that while he has been working hard to grow the business, he has lost sight of the great customer service he desperately wants to give and learns the best way to make his company better is to get back to that core idea.

      Tim White, the chancellor of UC Riverside, one of Southern California’s largest universities, goes undercover posing as a participant in a documentary about the University of California school system. Tim is the CEO of the university and is responsible for the student affairs on the UC Riverside campus, which is recognized as the most ethnically and racially diverse University of California campus. Tim himself is an immigrant from Argentina who came to the United States when he was a young boy. He worked hard as a kid to be able to fit in with the other children in America. Through his dedication of being a diligent worker, Tim made his way up to becoming a chancellor, making his parents very proud. Tragedy struck when Tim’s father was killed in an automobile accident during a trip to see Tim in his new position. During Tim’s time undercover, he will learn that the same drives and struggles that he has experienced throughout his life are also occurring in the lives of his students and faculty.

Throughout her journey, Shelly will realize her struggle with work-life balance and how it affected the final days with her father.

He’s proud of keeping his employees employed through the economic crisis by immediately enacting a wage and hiring freeze, and is going undercover to ensure his employees are being treated well.

His grandfather was tragically killed when he was crushed in an industrial washing machine. To protect the family’s livelihood, Ron’s father stepped up to run the business, until he had a heart attack and passed the keys to Ron.
