Thundarr the Barbarian revolves around the trio of Thundarr, Ariel and Ookla, as they make their way through the world on horseback, defeating evil wherever they may find it, their motivation being that they themselves had escaped the clutches of the vile sorcerer Sabien, Ariel's evil stepfather. Ariel herself is a powerful sorceress. Thundarr, a former slave, won his freedom and was given a magic sunsword, a powerful weapon he can use to battle evil. Ookla is a Mok, one of various new species that exist in post-apocalyptic Earth. He has great strength and is skilled with a bow and stun arrows. But he also has great heart and can be affectionate to his friends.
