Although using his "profiling" abilities Frank early on discovers who he believes to be the killer there is no real hard evidence linking the killer to the murders. Drawing upon his many years of experience dealing with the psychology of killers and using his unique talent to peer into an individual's psyche, Frank slowly "peels the onion" of the killer's mind.
