Miami Vice

Miami Vice
Miami Vice is one the most innovative and powerful TV series of all time. Produced by Michael Mann for NBC, the show became noted for its heavy integration and use of music and visual effects to tell a story. The series starred Don Johnson as Detective James "Sonny" Crockett and Phillip Michael Thomas as Detective Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs - two Metro-Dade Police detectives working undercover in the Vice Department in Miami. Storylines focused on the continued battle against the illicit drugs, prostitution, and firearms in the criminal underworld of the city of Miami. Unlike standard police procedurals, the show drew heavily upon 1980s New Wave culture and music, using fashion, color, and a varied musical selection in order to accentuate and amplify the emotional undercurrent of the drama it portrayed.
