Annie withdraws into herself following the death of her husband. Lord Hoxley and Nancy have an affair. Sgt Ticker thinks Nancy could be a Nazi collaborator. Joyce is happy when he husband shows up but finds out that he has gone AWOL from the RAF. Joyce agrees to spend a few days with him as long as he turns himself in after. Esther finds out about Bea's pregnancy.

Bea has been keeping the fact that she is pregnant for several months but finally admits the truth to her sister. Annie is shocked when Bea tells her that she wants to loose the unborn child. Annie comes up with a way to help her sister and tries to track down the baby's father. When Lord Hoxley realises that his marriage is over he ends up in Nancy's arms. Tucker has to break the sad news to Annie that her husband has been killed.
