At the same time, Kenpachi and Nnoitora continue to fight their never-ending battle. When Ichigo and Hanza take off to fight one on one, a creepy assassin, Jinnai Douko, appears before Rurichiyo, wielding a Bakkouto. Jinnai eats his Bakkouto to become one with it, and he attacks. Uryu encounters the Bakkouto-wielding Kuzuryu. Chad is confronted by Genga, who attacks with a Bakkouto that makes walls wherever he strikes - something a former defeated opponent of Ichigo had. Chad is baffled that this assassin is using the same sword.

Rurichiyo notices she is under close guard, but she has not been filled in on the situation and is thus clearly confused. That evening, Rurichiyo tells Ichigo that she thinks she is constantly causing trouble to those around her. Just then, Gyokaku Kumoi's assassins appear in the World of the Living.

They decide to split up and look for Rurichiyo. While searching, Rukia runs into Kenpachi Zaraki. Kenpachi finds out that Ichigo has also come, and he pressures Rukia to take him to Ichigo.

Grimmjow takes Orihime without permission and forces her to heal Ichigo. He wants to settle things with Ichigo while he's in his best condition. But before Ichigo's wounds heal, Ulquiorra comes when he realizes what's going on. Ulquiorra stops Ichigo's healing and demands that Grimmjow hand Orihime over to him. Grimmjow refuses and attacks Ulquiorra. The clashing Spiritual Pressures of the two Espada shake Las Noches.

An arrogant, boar-riding bully named Ganju challenges Ichigo and friends to a fight, but takes off without warning when the clock strikes nine. After getting over their confusion, the gang get back on track and follow a map to the very strange home of one Kukaku Shiba, who turns out to be not a little strange herself, but who may have just the thing to get them into the Seireitei.

Ichigo and crew defeat the giant, but their entrance into the Seireitei is nowhere near smooth sailing when they're met by a captain of the Soul Reapers, who promptly shows them the way out. It's then up to Yoruichi to call on an old friend for assistance.
