Babylon 5

Babylon 5 is an American science fiction television series created, produced and largely written by J. Michael Straczynski. The show centers on the Babylon 5 space station: a focal point for politics, diplomacy and conflict in the late 2250s and early 2260s. Babylon 5 is a five-mile long space station located in neutral space. Built by the Earth Alliance in the 2250s, it's goal is to maintain peace among the various alien races by providing a sanctuary where grievances and negotiations can be worked out among duly appointed ambassadors. A council made up of representatives from the five major space-faring civilizations - the Earth Alliance, Mimbari Federation, Centauri Republic, Narn Regime and Vorlon Empire - work with the League of Non-Aligned Worlds to keep interstellar relations under control. Aside from its diplomatic function, Babylon 5 also serves as a military post for Earth and a port of call for travellers, traders, businessmen, criminals and Rangers.

Alphonso, you are a bootleg idiot. Special thanks to the Blinkx admins for restoring the links to the B5 episodes on tudou; IMPORTANT- WB have begun airing B5 on their website on a season by season basis, and some RETARDS have started telling everyone on the WB boards that all of the episodes can be found HERE. WB promptly came here and replaced all links to ones that redirect to their site. IF YOU SEE THAT LINKS HAVE BEEN CHANGED, PLEASE CONTACT BLINKX STAFF so that the links can be restored to the tudou links so everyone can continue to watch this excellent series. Hosting TV series online DOES NOT STEAL REVENUE FROM STUDIOS. Studios can only record sales of their own product and how much money the HAVE made, there is NO WAY they can claim to be able to know how much they HAVEN'T made!

i do believe B5 was on the drawing Bord a few years before DS9 but was shelved a few times. B5 is very different from star trek and DS9 particulaly because it didn't show a rose tinted look at the future. the crew showed they were (for want of a better word) human and some were bastards. i wasn't much of a B5 fan and found it hard to sit though ( i just didn't get it)but some years later at about 3am crusade came on and i loved it, then i came back to B5 and it hit me star trek is my first sci-fi love but B5 wasn't for kids, not saying star trek is but B5 was darker you had to keep watching and remember what happened 6 weeks back or you were lost. it is the difference between wolverine and Lobo. you can only love one but you smile when you see the other.

B5 is very similar in principle to DS9, and they started about the same time, though the Deep Space X stations had already been introduced in ST:TNG. There's probably no way of knowing which concept was created first. In execution, however, the two are very different. Both good, but different.
